Role of the Editor
Supervising the Peer Review Process
Peer review is an independent assessment process of research work by one or more peers/referees with similar competencies to ensure the manuscript's validity, quality, and originality. The critical evaluation and comments of reviewers allow the authors to modify and improve their research work and assist the editor in assessing the manuscript’s suitability for publication.
The peer review process involves in-house editors, authors, reviewers, and editorial board members of the journal.
Maintaining Research Integrity
A journal editor experiences a lot of direct and indirect issues related to publication ethics and research misconduct in submitted articles for publication on a daily basis. One of the main responsibilities of the editor is to ensure that the best publishing guidelines must be followed by the author, editors, reviewers, and everyone involved in the process to preserve research integrity and meet the highest quality standards of publications.
You can find out more about the peer review policies and procedures by a particular journal’s guidelines for reviewers and editors on each journal's home page.
